Veterans Day is Indeed a Special Day

Veterans Day is indeed a special day - A day where every U.S. citizen has an opportunity to thank those Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines that swore an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States of America.

This is indeed a special day – A day where every U.S. citizen has an opportunity to honor the most diverse group of individuals from a spectrum of all walks of life.

Some interesting statistics include:

  • The number of women veterans has grown by 43.6% since 2005 and female service members make up approximately 10% of the current veteran population.

  • Minority service members account for 24% of the total veteran population.

  • Diversity continues to rise within the ranks today. After 9/11, the number of Hispanic veterans rose from 8.6% to 11.7%.

The fact is that military veterans are the only group that brings together a varying range of age, race, ethnicity, education levels, and geographically located variety of individuals that initially were brought together to train & focus on one common mission: The defense of our great Nation.

Military veterans represent a diversity of ages, race, ethnicity, gender, educational achievement, and geographic dispersal. But they all have one thing in common, one mission for which they have trained and sacrificed – to serve our great nation.

This is indeed a special day – A day where every U.S. citizen has an opportunity to care for those service members that may have been drafted into military service or volunteered to enlist. At BeneLynk, we know that a veterans’ service is a meaningful part of their life story and a piece of their healthcare puzzle. We not only assist veterans to obtain the benefits they earned from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, but we also go further by assisting veterans retrieve any documentation of VA care to share with their health plan medical home.

This is indeed a special day – A day where every U.S. employer has an opportunity to hire unemployed or underemployed veterans. At BeneLynk, we proudly source veteran (and military spouse) talent for employment opportunities. We are very proud to have received national recognition for doing so. Currently, nine percent of our workforce is military veterans.

This is indeed a special day – A day where every U.S. citizen has an opportunity to support veterans and/or veteran-affiliated entities that have targeted resources to assist veterans (and often their families) in crisis. At BeneLynk, we volunteer with veteran 501c3s, we participate year-over-year with the USMC Toys for Tots program, and we’ve donated much time & effort supporting our deployed troops overseas with care packages.

Veterans Day is indeed a special day!
